Jordan Reed one of Four Redskins to Start Training Camp on PUP List

The Washington Redskins announced Wednesday that star tight-end Jordan Reed will be one of four Redskins to start training camp on the PUP list.

The announcement that Reed was on the list comes as a surprise, the team’s press release gave no reasoning as to why he would be considered physically unable to perform at the start of camp. Reed took part in minicamp in the spring and according to the DC press that covers the Redskins, he looked dominant while doing so. Reed missed time during the 2016 season due to a separated shoulder and a concussion.

Joining Reed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list will be veteran safety DeAngelo Hall, linebacker Houston Bates, and wide receiver Kendal Thompson. Hall and Bates were expected to start camp on the list as they continue to improve from ACL injuries in 2016. While Hall will not be a starter in 2017 the team will look to him for depth and vital leadership in the secondary.

Thompson spent last season on the practice squad after splitting his college career between Oklahoma and Utah as a quarterback before making the transition to wide receiver at the NFL level.

UPDATE 6:15 PM

According to Mike Jones of the Washington Post, Jordan Reed is suffering from a toe sprain. He’ll have to undergo further evaluation before he can be cleared to play to avoid any long term issues.
