Redskins Announce Fan Information For MNF Season Opener

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins are encouraging fans to arrive at FedExField early in advance of their season opener on Monday, Sept. 12. The game against the Pittsburgh Steelers is set to kickoff at 7:10 p.m. ET.

Fans are strongly encouraged to arrive early for the game as lots will be open to permit holders at 2 p.m., five hours prior to kickoff. The Red Zone lot will open to permit holders at 1 p.m. This season, the Red Zone lot will feature assorted beer and wine vendors, food trucks, a stage featuring a DJ, a performance from Redskins Cheerleaders, Redskins Alumni appearances and tailgate games and picnic areas.

The Bud Light Pavilion opens to all ticket holders at 4 p.m. Fans will be able to watch the ESPN 980 pregame show featuring Redskins Alumni Chris Cooley and Pro Football Hall of Famer John Riggins as well as programming on the newly implemented HD screen. Additionally, fans can enjoy discounted beer prices.

Stadium gates will open at 5 p.m. Fans will be greeted with a burgundy rally towel giveaway upon arrival and are encouraged to get to their seats by 6:30 p.m. for pregame festivities including a special tribute in honor of the 15th anniversary of Sept. 11 and a flyover by the 71st Fighter Training Squadron from Langley Air Force Base. Additionally, suites will open to guests at 4 p.m.

Special guests to be honored during the game include local Washington, D.C., Virginia and Maryland Olympians and representatives from Prince William County Fire and Rescue and Pentagon Force Protection Agency on behalf of first responders from Sept. 11.

New for this season, the Waze app will partner with the team to provide hassle-free directions to specific lots, real-time traffic updates and incident reports. There will also be new menu items at FedExField including the fan-voted signature Hog Dog at Hoffman’s Meats stands and a greater variety of craft and specialty beers.

Additionally, the Redskins are advising fans the Metro will not be extending their hours for night games during the 2016 season. The last Metro train following the team’s season opener on Monday will be at 11:24 p.m. ET.

Fans are reminded to please print their tickets in advance. All parking passes and admission tickets will be scanned prior to entry. Only clear plastic and small clutch bags are permitted into the stadium.
