Bashaud Breeland showed signs of greatness against Dallas
Rookie Bashaud Breeland showed signs Monday night of being the guy the Washington Redskins hoped he would be when they drafted him in the fourth round of June’s draft.
Late in the third quarter, Breeland made play after play against the Cowboys. First, he tackled DeMarco Murray inside the five-yard line, saving a would-be Dallas touchdown. Then with Pro-Bowl receiver Dez Bryant calling for the ball on multiple plays, Breeland came through and denied the Dallas star the ball. The Cowboys were forced to kick the field goal.

Redskins coach Jay Gruden was impressed with Breeland’s play and noted he’s in the Redskins long-term plans.
“He’s a rookie playing against a big-time wide receiver tonight, and he stepped up, and that’s good to see because he’s going be here for a long time.”
In overtime, Breeland came up huge once again, the former Clemson standout denied Bryant the ball on the final play of the game.
After the game Breeland had this to say about Bryant, “I‘m a player in the NFL just like he is. He’s a good receiver. I know that, but I had to buckle down and do what I had to do to stop him.”
Indeed the rookie corner did just that, holding Bryant to just three catches and 30 yards.
Breeland has come a long way since being forced into the starting lineup after DeAngelo Hall went down earlier this year with an Achilles injury.
Redskins fans everywhere are hoping Monday night was a prelude to many more successful Bashaud Breeland outings as a Redskin.
