Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden spoke with reporters at the Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama on Tuesday. During the press conference Gruden gave the team’s first injury updates since the season ended.
Most notably on most everyone’s mind is receiver Josh Docton, who only managed to play in two games last year while nursing an Achilles injury despite the team using a first-round draft pick on him.
“Not really,” Gruden replied when asked if Doctson had made any notable progress in his recovery. “I saw him running in the pool the other day, which was exciting,” Gruden said of Doctson. “We’re just going to take it slow with him. I think the month of February will be very important for his progress to see where he’s at.”
Gruden gave good progress reports on safety Su’a Cravens, who suffered an upper arm injury at the end of the season, and reported positive things on linebacker Ryan Kerrigan’s elbow procedure, which took place last week.
Gruden didn’t believe that tight end Jordan Reed (shoulder) or right guard Brandon Scherff (ankle) would need to have any procedures done in the coming months. Gruden said he would have more updates in the coming weeks as the team gears up for free agency and the draft.
