The Washington Redskins have several players who are ready to break out this year; one such player is Ryan Kerrigan. He participated in the 2012 Pro Bowl but looks to do much more than that this year.
Ryan Kerrigan: “I Want to be Consistently Really, Really Good”
I’m tired of being consistent. I want to be consistently really, really good. I don’t want to be just consistently average anymore. I want to be consistently good.
The Redskins obviously believe Kerrigan’s ready to make the next step, so the team decided to pick up the option year on his contract. That means after making $1.5 million this coming season; he’ll be in line to earn $7.038 million the year after.
Kerrigan is using that move by the Redskins as motivation.
It’s a nice vote of confidence for sure. I’ve worked hard these past few years to be the best I can for the team and for the organization.
I’m going to be a part of it for at least an additional year and hopefully after that, even longer.
A lot of the off-season chatter surrounding the Redskins this year centers around the fact that defensive coordinator Jim Haslett has vowed to “let the linebackers loose.”
No one knows what to expect from the Redskins on defense this year. One thing is for sure, though, Ryan Kerrigan will be looking to move into the elite category at his position, and the Redskins are banking on it.
