Redskins cut Three Runningbacks
The job to decide just how many/which runningbacks were going to make the roster for the Washington Redskins this year was a tough one. The Redskins looked ultra deep at the position in preseason this year.
As the last day of cuts loomed the Redskins organization knew they had a tough call to make. In the end, the team decided to release Evan Royster, second year back Chris Thompson….and rookie Lache Seastrunk.
Have to believe if Seastrunk and Thompson clear waivers that both will be on the practice squad. That may be a huge if, Seastrunk looked raw, but talented, Thompson just can’t stay healthy, both are extremely athletic but both need work on pass-protection.
With the three backs getting cut today that leaves Alfred Morris, Roy Helu Jr and Silas Redd left on the team at halfback. Redd led the Redskins in rushing in preseason after getting picked up by the team as a undrafted free agent.
Other players released so far today:
- ILB Darryl Sharpton (IR with designation to return)
- S Phillip Thomas
- CB Chase Minnifield
- LB Everette Brown
- K Zach Hocker
- WR Nick Williams
- OL Maurice Hurt
