The Washington Redskins completed their first stage of shaping the roster down to 53 on Tuesday. The team officially released tight end Matt Veldman, offensive lineman Mike McGlynn and receiver Rashad Ross.
Every team in the league will have to have their rosters down to 75 by 4pm this afternoon. The next set of cuts will be on August 30th when the Redskins will make go from 75 players to 53.
Below is a list of all the players who were released, Rob Jackson is the biggest name on the list, no real surprises otherwise.

– Matt Veldman – Tight End
– Cody Hoffman – Receiver
– Ross Madison – Safety
– Jake McDonough – Defensive End
– Jeremy Towns – Defensive End
– Rashad Lawrence – Receiver
– Jeremy Kimbrough – Linebacker
– Stephen Campbell – Fullback
– Adrian Robinson – Linebacker
– Adam Gettis – Guard
– Bryan Shepherd – Corner
– Mike Caussin – Tight End
– Mike McGlynn – O-line
– Rashad Ross – Receiver
The release of most of these players doesn’t mean their time with the Redskins is over necessarily as the team still has to fill it’s 10-man practice squad roster as well.
