The Washington Redskins injury report added a few names this week.
Two players, nose tackle Chris Baker (chest) and tight end Jordan Reed (hamstring) both missed practice all week and are listed as out for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.
Two players are listed as questionable, offensive guard Shawn Lauvao (concussion) and offensive tackle Trent WIlliams (knee/ankle). Williams didn’t practice all week, Lauvao was limited in practice.
Linebacker Trent Murphy (knee) will be listed as probable for Sunday’s game after being a full participant in practice the last two days.
Coach Gruden spoke on injuries in his press conference on Friday.
“With Baker being out now, Cofield’s going to have to play more nose, and obviously [Kedric] Golston is going to play some more nose. It’s demanding in there, man. Those guys bump and grind all day long. They have got to hold up centers. They have got to work off double teams. They have got to stay in their gap, and it’s not easy with those big linemen pushing you down and double-teaming you. So, yes, it’s important to have a good rotation and to make sure the guy is 100 percent healthy and in good shape before you ask him to do a lot of snaps.”
Asked if he was optimistic on Trent Williams playing, Gruden replied:
“Yeah, he’s made some progress in the training room. Yes, there is a little bit more, but we’ll see how it goes. The five-hour flight and all that stuff, that will be a big deal, how he gets off the plane., [if it] swells back up. So, we’ll see.”
If Williams can’t go rookie Morgan Moses will step into his role at starting left tackle.
