According to reports from ESPN, the Washington Redskins have re-worked some details of DeAngelo Hall’s contact, making it a non-guaranteed base salary for the 2015 season.
Under the previous terms of the contract $1 million of his $4 million base salary would have become guaranteed on February 15, but the restructure was agreed to in the days leading up to that deadline and his entire base salary is now non-guaranteed. In order for Hall to obtain the $4 million in bonus money he will now have to be on the roster for all 16 games in 2015.
Hall signed a four-year deal last off-season, but only appeared in three games after tearing his Achilles tendon in a game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Hall re-injured the tendon a few weeks later but has since been successfully involved in rehab.
The new terms of the deal give the Redskins some security knowing that if Hall, who will be 31 when the season starts, can’t contribute this season they will not have to pay him a massive amount of money in the process.
Cornerback appears to be a position of the need that the Redskins will address in the coming draft after only getting seven interceptions in 2015 (tied for last in the league) and giving up 35 touchdowns passing.
