Redskins Preparing for two Raiders QBs With Pryor’s Status Unknown

It is still very much a mystery which Oakland Raiders quarterback the Washington Redskins will face this coming Sunday.

Will it be the young Terrelle Pryor who last Monday night sustained a concussion against the Denver Broncos or will it be Matt Flynn, the guy who the Raiders traded for in the off-season?

Pryor has not practiced for the Raiders two days after suffering the concussion late in the Monday Night Football game.

Backup Flynn worked with the first-team offense in practice Wednesday as the Raiders (1-2) prepared to play the winless Redskins (0-3).

Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan said Wednesday the team is preparing to face either quarterback.

“You have to account for both of them, because you don’t know for sure. Two different type of game plans,” said Shanahan. “I guess when you take a look at Pryor we know the threat he is in the running game. You have to be ready for that. Other quarterbacks can run it, but not to the degree he can.”

Pryor has been unable to practice or attend meetings and will continue to miss them until he is cleared by doctors. He got hurt late in Monday night’s loss in Denver when he was knocked out on a helmet-to-helmet hit by Broncos linebacker Wesley Woodyard while running a quarterback draw. The play was determined to be legal because Pryor was a runner between the tackles.

Pryor remained in for two plays before being taken to the locker room by doctors, the NFLPA is currently investigating the handling of Pryor’s concussion as it relates to the rules that state no player with a suspected concussion is allowed to continue to play in said game or until they meet certain standards and pass all the mandatory concussion tests.
