The Washington Redskins announced they have re-signed safety Duke Ihenacho, who was an exclusive-rights free agent.
Exclusive-rights free agents don’t get much choice in these matters. Essentially Ihenacho could have either accepted the Redskins offer, or retired.
It’s suspected Ihenacho’s offer was a non-guaranteed one-year deal worth $510,000.
At the beginning of last season Washington claimed Ihenacho off waivers from Denver, but he only played in three games as a backup before breaking a bone in his left foot and was lost for the season.
The Redskins will have to add more safeties soon as they only have second-year players Phillip Thomas and Akeem Davis under contract as of now.
