Redskins Roster Cuts: From 90 to 75

Redskins Roster Cuts

The Washington Redskins will begin the task of cutting down from a 90-man roster to a 53-man gameday roster for week 1. The current roster has 88 players listed, but safety Phillip Thomas, linebackers Keenan Robinson and Jeremy Kimbrough and cornerback Richard Crawford are all lost for the season, so that leaves Washington with 84 healthy players.

The first set of cuts will drop the total of players on the team to 75 and needs be finished no later than 4pm EST on Tuesday, August 27.

Since the Redskins only have 84 players (the four previously mentioned players will all end up on the Injured Reserve) they will only need to release nine more during this stage of the cutting process.

We will be updating this post as the cuts happen so check back to see who gets released.

The first cut of the season is fullback Eric Kettani.

Wide Receiver Donte Stallworth has been cut.

Nothing official as of yet but the following players listed in this tweet have empty lockers at Redskins Park this morning.
