Redskins Sign Chris Thompson and Lance Lewis

The Washington Redskins were able to add two more players to their roster on Wednesday by signing fifth round (154th overall) draft choice Chris Thompson and WR Lance Lewis, who was with the team last year during camp, but didn’t make the roster.

Thompson (5-8, 187) played collegiately at Florida State from 2009-12. He appeared in 38 games with eight starts in his career, rushing 277 times for 1,735 yards with 14 rushing touchdowns in addition to compiling 45 receptions for 430 yards with one receiving touchdown in his time as a Seminole.

Thompson, 22, attended Madison County H.S. in Madison, Fla., where he was a four-star prospect who earned PrepStar and Under Armour All-American honors.

Lewis (6-2, 207) spent training camp with the Redskins prior to the 2012 season before being released on Aug. 27, 2012.

He played collegiately at East Carolina, where he exited the program ranking third in school history in career receptions (149) and fifth in receiving yards (1,716).

Lewis, 24, attended Concord (N.C.) H.S., leading the Spiders to state championships in both football and basketball as a senior.
