The Washington Commanders signed first-round draft pick LB Sonny Styles on Friday. Styles’ deal is a four-year, $37.2 million, fully guaranteed contract with a $23.9 million signing bonus based on the rookie pay scale. Styles was the seventh overall pick in last month’s NFL Draft after converting from safety to linebacker before the 2024 season (had 100 tackles and 10.5 sacks that year), then recorded 82 tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss in 14 games as a first-team All-American last year at Ohio State.
In four seasons with the Buckeyes (53 games), Styles tallied 244 tackles, 22.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, three forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
The Commanders opened their three-day rookie minicamp Friday, with the Styles contract news coming as the first announcement. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
