DeAngelo Hall Gives Update on His Rehab

After missing most of the 2014 season and OTA practices in June, DeAngelo Hall says rehab is going extremely well lately. Hall is recovering from an Achilles injury and spoke with Grant & Danny on 106.7 the Fan Tuesday morning about the upcoming Redskins season.

“Shoot, I hope I’m ready to go the first day. When I say wean me back in, I know they are going to monitor me. I know they are not going to just throw me out there and have me take all the reps with the first team. I’m just going to get out there and see how the body feels.”

“I’m excited to get back out there on the field. …But I’m at the mercy of the trainers and coaching staff. So they’re going to kind of wean me back in slowly. But I’m excited to get back out there going with the guys.”

“So I’m just going to kind of get out there, see how the body feels. I haven’t done a whole lot of pounding on it, as far as football movements. I’ve been doing more sprinting straight ahead and side-to-side agility. So to actually get out there and get into football shape and do a lot more football movements, we’ll see how it responds and just kind of play it by ear.”

Hall says he remained in contact with many of his friends and even reached out to NBA super-star Kobe Bryant. Bryant suffered an Achilles injury and has been rehabbing it for the last few months.

“I knew it was going to be hard, just from talking to other guys,” he said. “You know, I really leaned on Kobe to just kind of take his mental approach through it. And I kind of summoned my inner Black Mamba. I kind of took all that negative stuff and just kind of — it’s fed me. It’s fed me. It’s gotten me focussed back, working hard, and I feel good.”

“I can’t wait to get out there and show everybody what I can do.”

“I feel great. I feel better than ever, ” he said. “So I can’t wait to get out there and show what I got. It’s going to be a heck of a competition between myself, [Chris] Culliver, [David] Amerson and [Bashaud] Breeland. So I can’t wait to get out there and compete with those guys.”
