Redskins Sign Cornerback Chris Culliver
According to several sources the Washington Redskins have signed former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Chris Culliver.
Culliver (6-0, 199 lbs) is coming off his best year as a pro starting 14 games and intercepting 4 passes in 2014. In his four years in the league, Culliver has 127 total tackles, 33 passes deflected, 7 interceptions and two forced fumbles. Culliver missed the entire 2013 season with a torn ACL that required surgery to repair.
Culliver will join a Redskins secondary that was among the NFL’s worst in 2014. His size, speed (4.4 forty) and ball-skills are exactly what the Redskins were looking for and he’s still young at 26.
The Redskins cornerback depth chart now consists of Culliver, David Amerson, Tracy Porter, Bashaud Breeland and a recovering DeAngelo Hall. There should be plenty of competition at the corner position in spring training for the Redskins this coming year.
With this signing the Redskins continue to upgrade their current defensive roster, the team already signed defensive lineman Stephen Paea, Terrance Knighton and Ricky Jean-Francois.
Details of Culliver’s deal are still unknown but it has been reported the deal will be somewhere in the 4-year $32 million range.
