According to multiple sources, the Washington Redskins have signed former Denver Broncos defensive tackle Terrance ‘Pot-Roast’ Knighton. The deal Knighton signed was reported to be a one-year deal worth $4 million.

Knighton is best friends with current Redskins defensive tackle Chris Baker. In six seasons, two in Denver and four in Jacksonville, Knighton has 201 combined tackles, 70 assisted, to go along with 12.5 sacks, 2 interceptions and 3 forced fumbles.

At 6-3, 335 pounds Knighton, 28, is just what the Redskins need….size and power in the middle of their defensive line. Much of what players like Knighton do on the field doesn’t show up on a stat-sheet but is highly important. He’s a run-stopping nose tackle, something the Redskins version of the 3-4 has yet to see in its 5 years of existence. His ability to create problems up the middle will help the Redskins improve on their pass-rush, something that has been a problem the last few years.

With the addition of Knighton, the Redskins now have Chris Baker, newly signed Stephen Paea, Frank Kearse, Knighton, Jason Hatcher, Ricky Jean-Francois and Kedric Golston on their defensive line. That’s a major upgrade from just a couple weeks ago.
